RTI International is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support hydrology, flood risk, and integrated water resources planning within the WARES Group. The role involves data analysis, model development, and decision-support tool creation to help clients manage floods and water resources.

The ideal candidate has strong foundation in water resources engineering and programming, with experience in hydrology, hydraulics, GIS, and modeling.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in water resources engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, river-basin planning.
  • Experience applying quantitative methods to water resources problems such as flood risk or integrated planning.
  • Ability to collect, quality-check, analyze, interpret, and document water resources data.
  • Ability to use programming, scripting, spreadsheets, databases, GIS, or other computational tools for technical analysis.
  • Ability to prepare clear technical documentation for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams; manage multiple priorities.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and software developers to implement RTI’s hydrologic and water resources tools.
  • Collect, quality-check, analyze, and summarize hydrologic, meteorological, hydraulic, geospatial data.
  • Develop, calibrate, and apply hydrologic, hydraulic, reservoir, and river-system models for flood risk and planning.
  • Design reproducible spreadsheets, scripts, and visualization workflows to improve data management and results communication.
  • Evaluate mitigation and operations alternatives under various hydrologic conditions.
  • Prepare clear technical visualizations and presentations for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Lead small projects or workstreams; coordinate scope, schedule, budget, and team contributions.
  • Support proposal development and staffing plans for larger projects.
