Job summary

Tompkins Solutions LLC seeks a Solutions Development Leader to own warehouse and material handling projects from discovery to implementation handoff. You will translate customer data into practical, justified solutions while coordinating with sales, equipment suppliers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience developing warehouse, distribution, or automated material handling solutions.
• Strong data analysis; validate datasets and translate findings into design requirements.
• Proficiency in Excel for operational analysis and ROI evaluation.
• AutoCAD 2D to develop/modify layouts.
• Knowledge of at least one material handling technology or applicable techs.
• Understanding of DC operations, flows, storage, and labor considerations.
• Ability to evaluate alternatives and justify recommendations.
• Clear written and verbal communication; experience presenting technical findings.
• Ability to manage projects independently and handle priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own scope, schedule, coordination, and quality of assigned deliverables.
• Conduct site visits and customer discussions to understand operations and objectives.
• Analyze operational data, identify gaps, document assumptions.
• Translate data into design requirements: throughput, storage, staffing, equipment.
• Develop and compare material handling concepts based on fit, cost, and implementation.
• Prepare concept layouts using AutoCAD 2D and coordinate with suppliers.
• Develop labor models, project costs, and ROI analyses.
• Prepare proposals, presentations, and descriptions of operations supporting recommendations.
• Present findings to customers and internal stakeholders with clear assumptions and tradeoffs.
• Coordinate with sales and engineering to define scope and risks; develop high-level schedules.
• Lead handoff to implementation with clear design intent and requirements.
• Seek input on unfamiliar tech while owning project progress.
• Contribute to team templates, tools, and processes.
