Job summary

Legal Aid at Work seeks a Staff or Senior Staff Attorney to advance wage protection rights through enforcement litigation and strategic advocacy. The role emphasizes collaboration across teams to represent low-income workers and to push for systemic change.

The attorney will handle complex cases, contribute to policy initiatives, and mentor law students and junior staff while advancing racial equity and access to justice across California.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar or willingness to take the California Bar Examination.
• Willing to reside anywhere in California; legal work from home is allowed contingent on responsibilities.
• Strong commitment to social justice and civil rights work, especially for low-wage workers.

Responsibilities

• Litigate enforcement and impact cases, including class actions and multi-plaintiff matters.
• Represent clients in limited-scope matters and in administrative hearings.
• Develop strategy for the Wage Protection Program in collaboration with the team.
• Engage in policy advocacy and coalition work with other organizations.
• Conduct community outreach and mentor law students, fellows, and junior attorneys.
