Job summary

Palco is seeking a Vice President, Finance & Controller to lead all financial operations remotely. You will own the close process, financial reporting, treasury, and internal controls while guiding a growing accounting team across entities.

Strong GAAP knowledge and external-audit experience are essential. The role requires CPA status, 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (3+ in leadership), and hands-on NetSuite and Excel expertise.

Qualifications

• CPA required. Does not need to be current.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Full-cycle General Ledger experience, including journal entries, month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
• Payroll accounting knowledge and payroll-related reconciliations.
• Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
• Strong systems orientation with NetSuite or similar accounting software; improve workflows.
• Advanced Excel skills with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis.
• Remote work experience required.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or government-funded programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end with GAAP-aligned reporting.
• Establish disciplined close calendar with deadlines, ownership, and reviews.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
• Maintain reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and ensure clearance of discrepancies.
• Oversee treasury, cash management, and banking relationships.
• Lead internal controls and compliance, prepare for audits.
• Head accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll, reporting) for all entities.
• Drive process improvements using automation and technology.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor profitability and performance.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and cross-functional collaboration.
• Communicate financial insights to leadership and stakeholders.
