Qualifications

• 7+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in underwriting or training.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and investor regulations.
• Proven ability to lead improvements, manage risk, and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day underwriting team operations, including loan assignment for timely decisions.
• Assist underwriters with escalations, rushes, conditions, and newly submitted loans to meet turntimes.
• Ensure training materials align with current lending regulations, investor guidelines, and policies.
• Monitor underwriting quality and create learning plans to address gaps.
• Partner with leadership to set performance benchmarks and training metrics.
• Provide coaching and ongoing support to underwriters and staff.
• Maintain production goals and KPIs and ensure consistent output.
• Foster collaboration across teams and promote a positive work environment.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
