Job summary

Propeller Industries, LLC is seeking a VP of Finance to serve as the analytical engine across a portfolio of 20–30 clients. You will own the financial models, budgets, rolling forecasts, KPI reporting, and board materials, while leading a finance team in an AI-first environment.

You will partner with the CFO across engagements, drive capital planning and reporting, and help grow the client base, delivering insights that influence strategy and outcomes across multiple ventures.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in finance-focused roles, with deep FP&A experience at venture-backed or high-growth companies.
• Advanced content expertise in both accounting and FP&A, including the most sophisticated monthly closes.
• Firsthand fundraising experience; conversant with outside investors, comfortable with board calls and investor presentations, and able to advise on term sheets and acquisition deals.
• Strong grasp of early-stage growth dynamics, and the critical thinking to help management make strategic decisions.
• Track record of building, leading, and developing finance teams, including managing direct reports.
• Proven ability to articulate a value proposition to prospective clients, pitch, and close new business.
• Demonstrated AI fluency: you work with AI in your own finance workflow today, and you can walk us through how it changes what you produce.
• Executive presence and high EQ; a clear communicator who distills complex thinking into simple, actionable recommendations; highly organized, with the desire to teach others.
• BA in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial models across cash flow, headcount, revenue, pricing, and budgets.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis that supports strategic planning and key business decisions.
• Support CFO on capital raises & acquisitions: investor decks, diligence, term sheets.
• Assess client market changes and translate impact into the plan.
• Proactively create KPI dashboards and automated scorecards that guide key business decisions in real time.
• Use AI and PropellerOS to speed up modeling, reporting, and deck production, and verify every output.
• Codify best practices and resources for the rest of the practice.
• Prepare board presentations and attend Board of Directors meetings alongside the CFO.
• Advise founders on strategic planning, capital strategy, and acquisition deals; manage client expectations across engagements.
• Manage and prioritize multiple client workstreams and ad-hoc requests in a timely, efficient way.
• Leverage your network to bring great resources to clients.
• Lead, coach, and develop 3–5 direct reports; provide mentorship in accounting and FP&A to all levels of the team.
• Delegate work to the right level so Directors, managers, and analysts collaborate to deliver high-quality service.
• Partner with Business Development to pitch prospective clients, articulate Propeller's value, and close new engagements.
• Expand within existing accounts and manage a book of business of $1–3M.
