Job summary

IDC is seeking a Vice President, Research, Planning & Operations to lead AI economics research, models, and executive advisory for CIOs and CFOs. The role focuses on AI deployment cost, value realization, and portfolio decisions across enterprise functions.

Ideal candidates have broad hands-on experience delivering AI initiatives, budgeting, and performance measurement in large organizations, with strong communication to technology and business leaders.

Qualifications

• Senior practitioner experience leading AI deployments with responsibility from business case to post-deployment performance.
• Hands-on delivery across multiple functions and domains, e.g., finance, procurement, HR, operations.
• Direct responsibility for AI budgets, forecasts, investment models, cost structures and value realization.
• Detailed knowledge of lifecycle costs: data, integration, licenses, compute, adoption, governance, and monitoring.
• Experience measuring and realizing business value: cash savings, revenue, or margin contributions.
• Experience presenting to CIOs/CFOs on AI investments with finance/business leaders.
• Candidates from consulting must show hands-on delivery for large enterprise clients.
• A bachelor's degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to enterprise AI economics research agenda covering investment prioritization, budgeting, forecasting and cost management.
• Develop and validate IDC AI economic models, including unit economics, payback, and scenario analysis.
• Advise CIOs, CFOs, and business leaders on portfolio decisions, build/buy options, funding and scaling.
• Build benchmarks and case studies; analyze impact of adoption, workflow changes, and risk on value realization.
• Collaborate with IDC sourcing to incorporate price benchmarks and terms into models.
• Produce syndicated and custom research, brief clients, and represent IDC in executive discussions.
