Job summary

IDC is seeking a Vice President, Research, Planning & Operations to lead AI economics research, focusing on investment prioritization, cost structures, and value realization across enterprise AI deployments. The role requires senior practitioner experience with budgets, forecasts, and multi-function outcomes.

You will develop economic models, advise CIOs and CFOs on build vs. buy, funding, and scaling, and translate deployment evidence into practical guidance for business leaders and executives.

Qualifications

• Senior practitioner experience leading AI deployments in large organizations and accountable for outcomes.
• Hands-on delivery across multiple business functions or domains.
• Direct responsibility for AI budgets, forecasts, and investment models.
• Knowledge of lifecycle costs: data, integration, software licensing, compute, governance, and support.
• Experience presenting to CIOs and CFOs on AI investments and realized value.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the research agenda for enterprise AI economics and budgeting.
• Develop and validate IDC AI economic models and methods.
• Advise CIOs, CFOs, and leaders on portfolio decisions and deployment options.
• Build benchmarks and case studies across horizontal functions and domain processes.
• Incorporate price benchmarks and terms into economic models with sourcing teams.
• Produce syndicated and custom research and translate deployments into defensible guidance.
