Job summary

Alight Solutions seeks an experienced Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to support employees unable to work due to disability, illness, or injury. You will assess abilities, explore alternative work options, and advance employability with tailored rehabilitation plans.

Responsibilities include interviews, file reviews, developing transitional return-to-work strategies, coordinating external services, and collaborating with claims teams to support timely, effective outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have M.A./M.S./M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from CORE.
• Current CRC certification by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC).
• Three+ years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, disability claims, and insurance industry practices, Social Security Disability and ADA laws.
• Proficient with TSA and LMS based programs and able to develop rehab programs for LTD claimants.
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds; sedentary work with sitting/standing/walking.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings.
• Excellent communication, organizational, customer service and analytical skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate within a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with employees for vocational assessment purposes.
• Perform comprehensive file reviews including vocational assessments and transferable skills analyses.
• Review triage reviews per employer triage report specifications to review for return-to-work opportunities.
• Co-manage claims related to returning to work and coordinate with healthcare providers and employers.
• Document activities and develop transferable skills and alternative occupations.
• Coordinate external vocational services such as ergonomic assessment, career exploration, job development, and placement.
• Consult with claims teams on file direction and perform three-point contact as needed.
• Participate in sales presentations or client implementations as needed.
• Arrange referrals to evaluations and standardized testing to assess needs and rehabilitation plans.
• Identify barriers to employment and develop transitional return-to-work plans.
• Organize and update records including medical records and correspondence.
