Job summary

employU, Inc. seeks a Career Counselor to provide individualized vocational rehabilitation counseling and employment planning for individuals with disabilities.

Services are delivered virtually and in person across the assigned area. Contractors complete intake assessments, develop IPEs, monitor progress, verify outcomes, and coordinate referrals to help participants achieve meaningful employment and independence within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, Counseling, or a closely related field required.
• At least two years of professional experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability employment services, employment counseling, or related case management.
• Comfort with web-based case management/CRM systems, electronic documentation, virtual meetings, and common office applications.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and CRC credential; Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation experience.
• Ability to complete applicable background screening; reliable transportation and availability for in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

• Contact participants within one business day to introduce services and schedule the initial appointment.
• Conduct intake interviews and collect employment history, strengths, barriers, interests, and other relevant information.
• Develop an individualized, person-centered IPE that identifies employment goals, needed supports, and recommended services.
• Complete the intake and IPE within 10 business days of assignment; up to 15 days when an evaluation is required.
• Recommend and coordinate referrals for employment services, WIPA benefits counseling, pre-placement training, vocational evaluation, and other supports.
• Review each service provider’s monthly progress report and associated notes at least monthly.
• Approve eligible provider invoices after verification and enter the required invoice date in employU’s CRM for Finance processing.
