Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is seeking a Community Engagement Housing Specialist in Rocky Mount, NC to support the SSVF program, outreach to veterans and homeless individuals, and landlord partnerships.

You will coordinate outreach, engage community partners, and assist low-income veteran households in identifying and securing stable housing while promoting available housing resources in the service area.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be organized and able to work independently with problem solving and active listening skills.
• Fluency in English (verbal, written, reading) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach support for SSVF Program and case management teams.
• Coordinate client outreach and landlord recruitment for SSVF.
• Engage with landlords, community organizations and other housing resources.
• Develop inter-agency relationships to enhance referral processes.
• Facilitate outreach activities including presentations to service providers and landlords.
• Attend public meetings to explain the SSVF program and its services.
• Coordinate services with community partners and agencies as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge through trainings and conferences.
