Job summary

Andy J Egan Co. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a VDC Layout Detailer to convert coordinated BIM models into fabrication-ready deliverables for piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems. You will focus on fabrication documentation, install drawings, spool drawings, and supporting field installation activities.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of detailing experience and proficiency with CAD/BIM tools, with strong organization and communication to coordinate with VDC teams.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years detailing experience in mechanical and plumbing fields
• Ability to read and interpret engineered contract drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication and field installation workflows

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed shop drawings for fabrication and installation
• Create spool drawings showing dimensions, weld locations, and fabrication requirements
• Generate assembly and skid drawings when required
• Create weld maps and installation package drawings
• Ensure drawings comply with project specs and fabrication standards
• Generate ISO drawings for flushing tests and related docs
• Review spool drawings for dimensional accuracy
• Validate BOMs against spool drawings and fabrication requirements
• Provide drawing revisions in response to field conditions or project changes
• Update fabrication documents to reflect approved changes
