Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Construction Manager to lead multi-disciplinary construction projects for the US Antarctic Program (USAP) across McMurdo, Palmer, and South Pole stations. The CM will manage self-perform and subcontracted work, with deployments to Antarctica each year (4–6 months total) and travel, lodging, and meals provided during deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; equivalent work experience considered.
• US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
• 5+ years of construction supervision experience.
• Experience supervising trades employees, project scheduling, and project cost estimating is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Direct responsibility for the execution of construction projects.
• Manage construction activities following project plans, specifications, and project schedules.
• Keep relevant project managers informed of project status via daily field activity reports.
• Plan and coordinate for availability of equipment, tools and materials required to execute self-perform scopes of work.
• Perform planning and estimating to support construction estimates, schedules, and procurements.
• Perform constructability design reviews.
• Responsible for change control during construction and for managing budgets tied to construction activities.
• Identify required design and specification changes prior to construction and use the RFI process.
• Participate in project meetings to monitor progress, ensure compliance with specs, and safety procedures.
• Report project progress in relation to schedules and update schedules accordingly.
• Support deconfliction of resources, maximize subcontractor effectiveness, minimize delays.
• Coordinate construction support such as laydown areas, trailer placement, and temporary utilities.
• Interact with NSF, military and other agency officials as needed.
• Stakeholder management between ASC groups and subcontractors.
• Maintain a safe workplace program with safety as the highest priority.
• Perform other duties as required.
