Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the United States Antarctic Program. This remote role includes annual deployments to CONUS/OCONUS locations with emphasis on Antarctic field operations and research vessels.

Responsibilities include implementing safety, health, and risk management strategies, performing field assessments, and reporting to the H&S Manager. Requires a BS in a related field and 5+ years' safety experience; willingness for extreme conditions and CSP/CIH certifications

Qualifications

• BS in Safety sciences, chemistry, environmental, engineering, or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with safety and health rules, standards, and program components.
• Field experience with remote work camps and heavy industrial/ construction environments.
• Ability to adapt to extreme weather conditions.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, health, and risk program requirements for station/field operations and manage risk tools.
• Align ASC operations with health and safety standards and Federal regulations where applicable.
• Act as safety POC for ASC operations in station/field regions.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies and plans; assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Perform industrial hygiene and safety surveys and document findings.
