Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the Antarctic Support Contract and NSF's US Antarctic Program. This remote role includes annual deployments within CONUS and to OCONUS locations, focusing on Antarctic field, Peninsula, and research vessel operations, administering safety, health, and risk management in field camps.

This is an austral summer alternate position with deployments to McMurdo Station. Must obtain a Public Trust Clearance (up to 4 months).

Qualifications

• BS in Safety sciences, chemistry, environmental, engineering, or related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with safety and health rules, standards, and programs.
• Field experience with logistic base support for remote work camps.
• Able to adapt to extreme weather conditions.
• Excellent written and oral communications.
• Professional certification in safety and/or industrial hygiene or equivalent encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Ensures station, field and peripheral operations meet safety and health program requirements.
• Acts as safety and health POC for ASC operations and develops risk management tools.
• Performs site visits, safety assessments, and incident investigations.
• Provides technical reports on improvement strategies and project status.
• Supports EHS team with analysis, reports, and project completion in field environments.
