Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the Antarctic Support Contract and NSF's United States Antarctic Program. This remote role requires annual deployments within CONUS and to OCONUS locations with a focus on Antarctic field, Peninsula, and research vessel operations.

You will administer and implement occupational safety, health, and risk management strategies in field camps, serve as the safety POC for ASC operations, and deploy to stations as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Safety sciences, chemistry, environmental, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with safety and health rules, regulations, standards, and the components of an effective safety program.
• Field experience with remote work camps and heavy industrial or construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and implement occupational safety, health, and risk management in field camp locations and peripheral operations.
• Act as on-site and off-site safety and health POC for ASC operations and develop risk management strategies.
• Conduct safety assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
• Provide technical reports on improvement strategies to H&S Manager.
• Deploy frequently to Antarctic stations and field environments and participate in pre-season planning.
