Job summary

HigherEchelon is seeking a Journeyman Unity Game Programmer for its Huntsville, AL hybrid/remote team developing serious games for training and education. You will join an agile scrum team with designers, SMEs, and artists to implement new features for training applications.

The role requires 3+ years in game programming (Unity preferred), a BS in a related field (or 7 years experience in lieu), and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. DoD training projects are a key focus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional game programming experience, ideally using Unity.
• Bachelor’s in Game Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 7 years of experience may be used in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Interact with team members, customers, and SMEs to develop serious games and virtual training products utilizing the Unity game engine
• Develop and test code, fix bugs and profile and optimize code as directed
• Follow best practices, development processes, and coding standards
• Write efficient code with descriptive comments and maintain attention to detail
• Document and peer review technical designs with other software engineers
• Support code reviews, especially for Junior members of the programming team
• Contribute creatively to the game/course design process, from prototype to completion and sustainment
• Take ownership of his/her work as a highly motivated self-starter
