Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Software Engineer II (Applications) to join a fast-paced, Agile team in Huntsville, AL. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software for training and simulation products across stand-alone, networked, cloud-based, and internet-related tools.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s in a technical field, 2–5 years in Windows or Linux development, and strong C#/C++/QT and Unity skills. Travel occasionally; you will collaborate with multiple teams and mentor others.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in Windows or Linux application software development.
• Expertise in C# .Net, C++, and/or QT; Unity development experience.
• Experienced writing unit tests and debugging code.
• Familiar with Agile lifecycle and software development processes.
• Familiar with SVN and Git; comfortable with IDEs and debuggers.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follows a defined software life cycle development process.
• Understands requirements and participates in design reviews.
• Creates software design documentation per process guidance.
• Implements coding per standards; writes tests and validates software.
• Delivers work on time according to the project schedule and budget.
• Supports and derives algorithm design from detailed software requirements.
• collaborates with multiple software teams to reuse existing work.
• Mentors less experienced engineers in a continuous learning environment.
• Solves problems of moderate scope requiring analysis of multiple factors.
• Builds productive internal/external relationships; performs other duties as assigned.
