Job summary

Leidos seeks a Unified Data Management Development Lead to direct data strategy and architecture for a large, DoD mission-focused program in the GSM-O II contract. You will shape data lakehouse patterns, streaming and batch pipelines, and data cataloging while coordinating with AI/ML, AIOps, and platform teams.

You’ll lead hands-on development across AWS IL5/IL6, Confluent Kafka, Elastic Stack, and Databricks, balancing cost, security, and performance in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6+ years; or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience leading strategy, architecture, design, development, and delivery of data-driven capabilities in complex environments.
• Hands-on experience with data lakes/lakehouses, distributed data platforms, streaming data architectures, ETL/ELT, data integration, modeling, and multi-format data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy, roadmap, architecture, development, and implementation of Unified Data Management across the GMS data ecosystem.
• Define current-target data architecture for a secure, cloud-based platform spanning AWS IL5/IL6, Kafka, Elastic Stack, Databricks, ServiceNow, and related tools.
• Architect and lead data lake, lakehouse, streaming, and batch-processing patterns for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Design and implement data pipelines to ingest, normalize, enrich, catalog, and share data from diverse sources.
• Mentor engineers, drive technical decisions, and ensure data platform delivers mission value while meeting DoD cybersecurity requirements.
