Job summary

Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc. seeks an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead a national Wholesale Division team in a remote capacity. You will guide credit decisions, mentor staff, and collaborate with Sales to optimize outcomes.

You will ensure policy adherence, manage the loan-approval pipeline, and drive process improvements while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Senior mortgage underwriting leadership and training responsibilities.
• Knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines including FHA/VA/USDA.
• Ability to manage pipeline and ensure timely closings.
• Experience with LOS such as Calyx Point, Ellie Mae, Encompass.
• Strong communication with clients and Sales Team.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the underwriting team to achieve division goals.
• Provide daily support and training to junior and senior underwriters.
• Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of underwriters.
• Monitor productivity trends and identify improvements.
• Ensure loans are approved and cleared-to-close within turn-times.
• Ensure compliance with Plaza's policies and guidelines.
• Coordinate with AVP and regional managers on monthly goals.
• Advise on policy changes and underwriting guidelines.
