Job summary

Westcor Land Title Insurance Company in Knoxville, TN seeks an Upward Underwriting Counsel to analyze title insurance risks, provide underwriting solutions, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws. The role covers residential and limited commercial transactions, with opportunities to lead training seminars for agents and production staff.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. degree, at least 3 years of Tennessee real property and title insurance experience, and is a member in good standing

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and TN Bar in good standing.
• Thorough knowledge of Tennessee real property law and title insurance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze title insurance risks, underwriting issues, and regulatory concerns.
• Provide underwriting solutions to agents, sales team, and title examiners per Westcor guidelines and law.
• Underwrite residential and limited commercial transactions.
• Present training seminars for title agents and production staff (online and in person).
• Deliver outstanding customer service with sound underwriting decisions.
• Handle underwriting inquiries via email and phone promptly.
• Analyze and respond to indemnity requests.
• Travel with sales staff for agent visits across the state.
• Work effectively in a remote team environment.
