Job summary

Westcor Land Title Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Underwriting Counsel to analyze title insurance risks and provide underwriting solutions, ensuring compliance with Tennessee laws. The role focuses on residential and limited commercial transactions and requires a J.D. and bar membership in good standing in TN.

The position involves training seminars, working with agents and staff, and travel with the sales team within the state, while thriving in a remote team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Tennessee real property and title insurance experience.
• Active Tennessee Bar membership required.
• Strong knowledge of Tennessee real property law and the title insurance industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze title insurance risks, underwriting issues, and regulatory concerns
• Provide underwriting solutions to agents, sales team, and title examiners in accordance with Westcor guidelines and law
• Handle residential as well as limited commercial transactions underwriting
• Present training seminars to educate title agents and production staff (online and in person)
• Provide outstanding customer service while making sound underwriting decisions
• Handle a high volume of underwriting inquiries via email and telephone promptly
• Analyze and respond to indemnity requests
• Travel with sales staff for agent visits throughout the state
• Work well in a remote team environment
