Job summary

Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Commercial and Personal Lines Underwriter to join our fully remote team. You will underwrite new and renewal submissions, assess risk, and maintain strong relationships with independent agents.

You will help evolve underwriting guidelines and AI tools while ensuring compliance and timely decisions. Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3+ years in property and casualty insurance; strong communication and Microsoft Office skills; capable of working

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of property and casualty insurance experience.
Strong understanding of personal and commercial lines.
Ability to interpret coverage forms and endorsements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with good time management.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and underwriting systems.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and underwrite both commercial and personal lines of new and renewal business.
Assess risk characteristics to determine pricing and coverage options.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with independent agents.
Negotiate terms with producers to write profitable business.
Maintain compliance with underwriting policies and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to underwriting strategy and AI-driven tool development.
Participate in training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
