Job summary

Quest Analytics seeks a contract UI design systems engineer to advance our design system into a reusable, developer-ready component library. You will design and refine components atop our token and typography foundations, and document how tokens translate into code.

Collaborate with Product Designers and Engineers, configure Storybook, and connect Claude Code workflows to accelerate implementation. Ensure accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and provide clear guidelines for maintenance after the contract

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a design-related field or equivalent professional experience with a strong portfolio.
4+ years of UI, product, or related design experience and hands-on design-system ownership.
Portfolio demonstrating relevant UI and design system work and component library development.
Hands-on experience using Claude and Claude Code in production workflows.
Advanced proficiency in Figma, including variables, design tokens, components, and auto layout.
Ability to create clear design system documentation for designers and engineers.
Understanding of how design tokens translate to code (e.g., CSS variables).
Strong written and asynchronous communication skills across teams.
Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and applying them to UI components.
Self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Design and refine core UI components (form elements, filters, navigation, tables) atop token/typography foundations.
Ensure components work across the six-workspace shell and are reusable across products.
Define variant/state conventions (default, hover, focus, disabled, error) and responsive behavior.
Build component-level documentation: usage guidelines, do’s/don’ts, states/variants, accessibility notes.
Document how design tokens map to code implementation.
Set up or extend a documentation platform (e.g., Storybook) as a single source of truth for designers and engineers.
Configure Claude Code and related tooling (Figma Code Connect/MCP) to connect design system to codebase.
Build workflows/config to accelerate producing design-system-compliant code with less handoff.
Document the AI-assisted workflow clearly for long-term maintenance after the contract ends.
Collaborate with Product Designer Manager and design team to prioritize components.
Partner with engineering to validate implementation and reduce adoption friction.
