Job summary

State of Michigan, through the Michigan Department of Transportation, seeks a Transportation Engineer Licensed Specialist to lead complex bridge projects from concept to construction. You will manage consultants, review designs, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure adherence to standards and schedules.

Requirements include a BS in engineering, four years of related experience and an active engineering license.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
Four years of professional experience equivalent to Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
Registered professional engineering license required; must maintain throughout employment.

Responsibilities

Manage consultants for MDOT bridge rehabilitation, replacement or new construction per design standards and budgets.
Prepare and review design documents for assigned bridge projects.
Oversee activities of transportation engineers and assist in project coordination.
Develop scopes of work and budgets for contracted consultants.
Coordinate projects with MDOT, other state agencies and external entities.
Initiate permits and agreements with cities, counties, railroads and agencies.
