Job summary

First National Title Insurance is seeking a Western Region Underwriting Counsel to provide high-level underwriting support and guidance for real estate closings and title matters across CO, UT, and NV. The role emphasizes independent decision-making and collaboration with agents, customers, and internal teams in a largely remote setting.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school, is admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction (CO/UT/NV preferred), and has 5–10+ years

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-approved law school.
• Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one jurisdiction (CO/UT/NV preferred).
• 5–10+ years of title underwriting or closely related real estate legal experience.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting Support & Guidance: review title searches and complex real estate transactions; assess risk and provide underwriting solutions.
• Agent & Customer Partnership: build relationships with independent title agents and customers to support business growth.
• Risk Management: draft language, exceptions, and endorsements in title commitments and policies.
• Education & Communication: create and deliver training on title insurance rates, rules, and best practices.
• Collaboration: work with underwriting teams, claims counsel, and sales leadership for regulatory alignment.
• Other duties as assigned.
