Job description

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Technical Problem Authors with deep expertise across engineering domains such as aerodynamics, materials science, CAD/mechanical design, circuit design, and mechanical engineering to contribute to an advanced AI training and technical-reasoning evaluation project.

Selected professionals will author sophisticated engineering problems, evaluate AI-generated technical responses, apply practical engineering judgement to real-world scenarios, and provide structured feedback that improves technical reasoning and problem-solving quality. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Technical Problem Authoring
  • Author expert-level engineering problems within your area of specialisation
  • Develop scenarios across aerodynamics, materials science, CAD/mechanical design, circuit design, or mechanical engineering
  • Create technically rigorous problems that reflect real-world engineering complexity
  • Define clear assumptions, constraints, and expected reasoning paths
  • Avoid oversimplified or purely textbook-style exercises
AI Technical Response Evaluation
  • Review AI-generated technical responses for correctness and engineering relevance
  • Assess whether proposed methods, calculations, and conclusions are technically sound
  • Identify conceptual errors, unsupported assumptions, or incomplete reasoning
  • Evaluate practical feasibility as well as theoretical correctness
  • Provide structured feedback that supports model improvement
Engineering Analysis & Problem Solving
  • Apply practical engineering judgement to design, analysis, and failure scenarios
  • Analyse complex domain-specific technical issues
  • Evaluate trade-offs across performance, reliability, manufacturability, and other engineering constraints
  • Identify ambiguities or missing information within technical problem statements
  • Propose clarifications that improve problem quality and interpretability
Domain-Specific Technical Expertise
  • Contribute advanced knowledge from specialised engineering disciplines
  • Apply tools and methods relevant to fields such as AutoCAD, CFD, FEA, EDA, or laboratory-based engineering
  • Integrate theoretical fundamentals with practical industry experience
  • Evaluate problems using appropriate professional standards
  • Support technically diverse assignments based on project needs
Technical Feedback & Documentation
  • Provide clear written explanations of technical reasoning
  • Document errors, recommendations, and solution approaches precisely
  • Explain complex engineering concepts in professional English
  • Produce feedback that can be applied consistently by technical reviewers
  • Maintain strong standards of clarity, rigor, and reproducibility
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
  • Collaborate remotely with technical experts and project participants
  • Review problem statements and evaluation materials for technical quality
  • Contribute recommendations for improving model performance
  • Incorporate feedback into evolving authoring and evaluation workflows
  • Deliver high-quality work within required project timelines
Ideal Profile
  • Advanced degree such as an MS or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline, or substantial equivalent industry experience
  • 8+ years of experience is highly valuable for Aerodynamics, Circuit Design, or Mechanical Engineering specialisations
  • 5+ years of experience is highly valuable for CAD or Mechanical Design specialisations
  • At least 5 years of hands-on technical experience in a relevant engineering domain
  • Strong practical expertise in areas such as mechanical design, aerodynamic analysis, materials selection, or circuit/system development
  • Demonstrated technical-problem authoring experience is highly advantageous
  • Experience with olympiad problem committees, licensure examination writing, academic qualifying examinations, standards committees, or technical competitions is especially relevant
  • Strong evidence of technical rigor through publications, patents, awards, competition results, or professional committee work is valuable
  • Professional-level English proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Familiarity with relevant industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, CAD suites, CFD/FEA software, EDA tools, or laboratory equipment
  • Strong ability to work independently in a remote project environment
  • No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
Engagement Details
  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Displayed compensation range: $60–$110/hour
  • Actual compensation structure is output-based, with payment made per task that meets project specifications
  • Task completion time may vary depending on individual experience and workflow
  • Minimum weekly submission requirements apply; the source does not specify the exact number of required tasks
  • Work will involve technical problem authoring, AI-response evaluation, engineering analysis, structured feedback, and quality assurance
  • Assignments may span aerodynamics, materials science, CAD/mechanical design, circuit design, mechanical engineering, and related domains
  • Strong domain expertise and rigorous engineering judgement are central to this engagement
  • Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
  • Selected experts are expected to begin initial tasks within approximately 24–48 hours after onboarding
  • Project scope, workload, engineering domains, and evaluation requirements may evolve depending on project needs
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
