Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a highly experienced Technical Lead to shape and deliver modern digital banking experiences. You will direct multiple Agile teams focused on customer-facing platforms powered by React-based frontends, cloud-native backends, and API-driven integrations.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and champion security, observability, and DevSecOps practices across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 12 years' experience in Technical work in Application Development, Server Administration, Information Security, or Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction across multiple Agile product teams delivering customer-facing digital banking capabilities.
• Serve as the primary technical advisor for engineering managers, architects, product leaders, and delivery teams.
• Drive delivery of scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available banking solutions.
• Guide technical roadmaps, platform evolution, and modernization initiatives.
• Conduct architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Mentor engineers and foster engineering ownership and accountability.
• Resolve complex technical challenges spanning multiple domains and teams.
• Champion API-first, event-driven, and domain-oriented architectures.
• Design microservices-based solutions and integration strategies.
• Define target-state capabilities across identity, customer onboarding, customer profile, payments, notifications, entitlements, and digital engagement.
• Partner with enterprise architecture teams to establish long-term platform standards.
• Drive adoption of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and SRE practices.
• Establish engineering metrics focused on quality, stability, velocity, and customer outcomes.
• Improve reliability, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
