Job summary

Applied Systems is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support a hybrid infrastructure spanning colocation data centers and cloud platforms (Azure and GCP). You will manage Windows Server environments, VM lifecycles, patching, backups, and automation, while driving observability and reliability improvements across on-prem and cloud resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6 years in systems administration or cloud operations.
• Hands-on Windows Server production patching, upgrades, troubleshooting.
• Experience managing VM infrastructure across on-premises and cloud.
• Experience with monitoring/observability platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Hybrid infrastructure across colocation or on-prem data centers and public clouds.
• Experience with patch management tooling (Ansible, PatchMyPC, SCCM, WSUS).
• Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform or ARM templates.
• Exposure to VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Windows Server environments in hybrid infra.
• Manage VM lifecycles across on-prem and cloud.
• Support infrastructure in colocation facilities and cloud (Azure, GCP).
• Manage cloud resources: VMs, storage, networking, core services.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, backups.
• Lead patch management cadence and validation.
• Triage security findings with security teams.
• Monitor performance, availability, and capacity.
• Build and tune monitors, alerts, dashboards.
• Respond to incidents with RCA and corrective actions.
• Automate recurring operations and health checks.
• Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
• Integrate automation with monitoring and self-healing workflows.
• Support Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Create runbooks and technical docs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally for service delivery.
• Communicate status and progress clearly.
• Contribute to post-incident reviews.
