Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Switchboard Engineer to join our Houston-based engineering team. You will own the customization and delivery of switchboard designs from concept to manufacturing release, leveraging CAD expertise and UL 891 knowledge to produce precise mechanical and electrical prints.

The role supports remote work for non-Houston hubs and requires occasional travel to hub offices, as needed. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams across time zones to ensure quality,

Qualifications

• Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, especially SolidWorks.
• Experience designing UL 891-compliant low-voltage switchboards.

Responsibilities

• Customize switchboard designs based on customer specs and project requirements.
• Translate designs into accurate manufacturing prints with product and engineering teams.
• Create detailed mechanical and electrical CAD drawings in SolidWorks per UL 891 and standards.
• Maintain up-to-date design documentation and communicate changes clearly.
• Review drawings for clarity, manufacturability and technical alignment.
• Troubleshoot design issues with manufacturing teams.
• Manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines.
• Communicate across time zones to align deliverables.
