Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Controls Engineer, Switchboards to own design, development, and commissioning of control systems for mission-critical infrastructure. You will handle panel design, control schematics, breaker and meter programming, ensuring systems operate reliably and meet customer specs.

The role involves close collaboration with sales, production, and customers across offices in Long Beach, CA and Houston, TX, with hands-on engineering and on-site support as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong background in electrical engineering with hands-on experience in switchboard or power distribution systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AUTOCAD) and schematic development.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to sales during bidding and pre-purchase activities.
• Compile and deliver electrical submittal packages (SLD, breaker schedules, wiring schematics, BOM, FAT).
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers on switchboard enclosure design and integration; produce production-ready documentation.
• Source electrical components with procurement teams and specify meters, surge devices, CTs, and control devices.
• Guide assembly teams during power panel and component assembly; standardize labeling and wire tagging.
• Train and audit the quality testing team on ground loop, Hi-pot, functional testing, breaker programming, 480VAC testing, UL labeling procedures; support customer witness tests.
• Provide post-delivery technical support and on-site troubleshooting to ensure successful installation.
