Job summary

Legends EOR is seeking a Sustainability Engineer / Quantity Surveyor to deliver Whole Life Carbon and embodied carbon assessments for major UK building developments. Working remotely from South Africa during UK hours, you will manage complex spreadsheet calculations and quantify materials with environmental data tracking.

This mid-to-senior role requires independence, strong Excel skills, and experience in sustainability, site construction, and project management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience conducting Whole Life Carbon and embodied carbon assessments for buildings.
• Quantity Surveying background is essential.
• Mid-to-senior level with independence to work across time zones.
• Advanced Excel and data-handling capabilities for complex calculations.
• Strong mathematical capability and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously with limited guidance.
• Experience with whole life carbon/sustainability and site construction.
• Construction management, architecture or project management exposure is a plus.
• Client-facing experience including sales exposure is desirable.
• London Plan GLA reporting experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed Whole Life Carbon and embodied carbon assessments for buildings.
• Manage complex spreadsheet calculations for major developments.
• Quantify materials and track environmental data for carbon assessments.
• Utilise advanced Excel to manage calculation sheets.
• Work independently through technical engineering and material data problems.
• Adapt calculations to shifting requirements and timelines.
• Collaborate with site contractors to track carbon outputs.
• Compare projected vs actual carbon for final reports.
• Utilise the London Plan GLA system where applicable.
• Operate remotely across UK time zones.
