Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and codes medical record documentation to assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes with maximum specificity.
• Abstracts demographic and coding information into the information system accurately.
• Reviews documentation for medical necessity and minimizes claim denials.
• Audits orders and claims for accuracy prior to submission.
• Provides guidance to physicians and staff in resolving coding issues.
• Develops effective working relationships with physicians and stakeholders; primary focus is diagnostic and complex procedural/surgery coding.
