Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Environmental Protection Trainee or three years of surface mining and conservation experience
• Equivalent combination of experience and training accepted

Responsibilities

• Complaint Investigations: Investigate public concerns related to blasting, water quality, environmental degradation, and safety
• Site Inspections: Conduct complete, partial, follow‑up, and non‑routine inspections of coal and noncoal mining operations
• Violation Determination: Evaluate findings and initiate enforcement actions for environmental and safety laws
• Bond Review Work: Review Stage 1 bond releases and conduct annual bond reviews
• Accident Investigations: Support investigations by gathering information, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports
• Data and Reporting: Collect samples, enter data, prepare reports, and maintain logs and files
