Job summary

Ampirical is hiring a Substation Testing & Commissioning Technician to support acceptance testing, maintenance, and commissioning of high‑voltage substation equipment. You will travel regionally to project sites, perform extensive electrical tests, and ensure safety standards are met.

The role requires hands‑on work with breakers, transformers, relays, and SCADA systems, with documentation and collaboration across engineers and field teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in testing and commissioning substations (or 8+ with relevant degrees).
• NICET II or higher preferred; ability to obtain TWIC card.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning on breakers, transformers, and relays.
• Conduct insulation, resistance, power factor, and relay tests.
• Troubleshoot misoperations and verify diagrams and wiring.
• Prepare test reports and maintain drawings; ensure safety compliance.
• Travel regionally/nationally 50–75%, including overnights.
