Job summary

ENERCON's Substation Group is seeking a Substation Designer - Physical Designer to draft substation layouts and related details, collaborating with engineers to deliver safe, reliable power delivery.

The role may be filled as a Drafter or Designer based on experience, with travel to client sites required. Some positions may be performed remotely in the U.S., and the compensation range is USD 54,400 to 90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Substation drafting and/or designing.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop or draft electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform basic substation design calculations lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
• Field Support: Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
