Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. seeks a Substation Engineer- Physical Design to design substations, draft layouts, perform grounding analyses, and tune relay settings. You will collaborate across disciplines and provide on-site support during construction.

Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (ABET) and at least 6 years in substation design; proficiency with MicroStation/AutoCAD; willingness to travel; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executing substation physical design projects.
• Familiarity with substation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards.
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
• Must be self‑driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
• Technical Documentation & Specifications: Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
• Field Support: Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
