RRC Power and Energy seeks an Electrical Designer III - Substation P&C to support high‑level protection and control design for critical energy projects.

You will prepare detailed P&C package drawings, develop SCADA and communication diagrams, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and compliance across multiple projects. This role offers remote work options with some office presence in the Round Rock area.

Competenze

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design for utilities, EPCs, or renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software including XREF management, annotation standards, and layer controls.
• Experience creating and modifying protection and control wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3.0, and IEC.
• Understanding of networking devices, relay I/O assignments, and communication configurations.
• Strong understanding of utility and industry design standards (IEEE, IEC, CSA, NESC).
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Must be authorized for full-time work in the U.S. or Canada.

Mansioni

• Prepare detailed protection and control (P&C) substation design packages including, protection and control single-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts, bill of materials, cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams.
• Develop and update substation SCADA and communication drawings, including RTU, relay I/O, and control wiring details.
• Coordinate and review drawings with internal and external teams including engineers, drafters, and project managers to ensure quality and compliance.
• Incorporate client and utility standards while adhering to RRC's design practices and quality procedures.
• Assist in developing standard design templates, drafting workflows, and P&C best practices.
• Support construction and commissioning teams through as-built drawing updates, redlines, and documentation control.
