Job summary

Castillo Engineering seeks a Substation Engineering Manager to lead the substation engineering team, drive technical excellence, project delivery, and staff development through all project phases.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with protection and controls, civil, and renewable teams, recruit talent, and promote safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Remote work is available and compensation is competitive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• PE license required.
• 8+ years of substation engineering experience in utility, industrial, renewable energy, or power delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Substation Engineering team across project phases from concept to construction support.
• Provide technical oversight for transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Monitor scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable quality.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff through coaching and performance management.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify risks and staffing needs.
• Recruit, interview, onboarding, and retention of engineering personnel.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects when licensure permits.
