Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Substation Engineer to support our utility customer with minimal direction. You will work with in-house and client engineers to complete substation projects and provide training to junior staff.

The role requires a ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree, a PE license, and the ability to travel to project sites for data collection and scope development. This permanent, fully remote position offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering may count toward years of experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, one-line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.
• Review substation construction drawings and verify compliance with codes and standards.
• Engineer and design lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations.
• Make changes to drawings and documentation as needed.
• Verify proper use of equipment per project documentation standards and codes.
• Ensure materials and equipment are ordered and delivered on time.
• Travel to project sites for walk downs and information gathering.
• Coordinate work activities within the group to complete substation projects.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level engineers.
• Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not met.
