Job summary

Actalent in Columbus, OH is seeking a Substation Engineer to support our utility customer with minimal supervision. You will develop project scopes, review drawings, design lightning protection and grounding, and guide junior engineers across projects.

You will travel to project sites as needed, coordinate work within the team, and ensure timely delivery of materials. A PE license and ABET‑accredited degree are required, with Masters counting toward experience.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• ABET‑accredited M.S. in Electrical Engineering counts toward experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, one-line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.
• Review substation construction drawings for compliance with codes and standards.
• Engineer lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations.
• Coordinate work activities within the group and department to complete substation projects.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees and initiate corrective action when objectives are not met.
