Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Substation Engineer to design, implement, and test electrical substations for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage projects nationwide. The role emphasizes power systems knowledge, equipment sizing, and protection coordination, with responsibilities spanning design reviews, studies, and vendor evaluations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
• 2+ years in substation design, construction, or maintenance or equivalent design experience.
• Solid understanding of power systems, including transmission, distribution, and generation.
• Proficiency in engineering software tools such as ETAP, SKM, or PSS/E for power system analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical substations per project requirements and industry standards.
• Review load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination studies for reliability and efficiency.
• Prepare/Review detailed drawings and specifications using AutoCAD Electrical or Bluebeam.
• Coordinate with utilities, contractors, and regulators for approvals and permits.
• Review vendor proposals for substation components against specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
