Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, delivering solar, storage, and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Substation Engineer designs, tests, and implements substations, ensuring safety and performance.

This role is fully remote with travel ~10% and cross-functional collaboration with transmission planners and protection engineering. The position requires a solid power systems background, a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, and 2+

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred).
• 2+ years in substation design, construction, or maintenance or equivalent design experience.
• Solid understanding of power systems (transmission, distribution, generation).
• Proficient in ETAP/SKM/PSS/E for power system analysis is a plus.
• Familiarity with protection relay programming and coordination studies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review substations layout, equipment selection, and specs per project requirements and standards.
• Review load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination studies for reliable designs.
• Prepare/review detailed drawings, schematics, and specs using AutoCAD Electrical or Bluebeam.
• Coordinate with utilities, contractors, and regulators for approvals and permits.
• Review vendor proposals for technical accuracy to substation specs.
