Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Substation Designer to develop construction drawings for substation projects and mentor junior designers. The role emphasizes 2D/3D layout work, grounding and protection, and SLDs using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

You will lead small projects, check drawings, and coordinate with other engineering teams. Ideal candidates have 6+ years of substation design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, and an AAS in CAD or related field.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience designing physical layouts, equipment layouts, plan views, elevation views, section views, and creating detailed bills of material.
• Experience in substation design including grounding and lightning protection.
• Six years of design experience using AutoCAD.
• Associate degree in drafting/engineering technology or equivalent.
• Ability to supervise and mentor designers.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation design layouts with scoping information.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using MicroStation.
• Modify and update models to reflect design changes.
• Check and validate drawings for the project and peers.
• Coordinate with other departments involved in design projects.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert in Substation Design.
• Lead small projects with minimal guidance from an engineer.
