Job summary

Gifthealth, a healthcare tech company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale core platforms in a remote-friendly setting. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will influence architecture, reliability, and developer experience across teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive long-term technical strategy, collaborate with product and design, and uphold engineering standards while delivering secure, compliant software in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating production-grade systems at scale.
• Knowledge of modern software architecture patterns and cloud-native systems.
• Backend language proficiency in Ruby, Elixir, Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Experience in healthcare or regulated environments (HIPAA) preferred.
• Ability to lead complex, ambiguous technical initiatives.
• Frontend or mobile experience; infra-as-code and CI/CD beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements scalable, reliable, and secure software systems for core Gifthealth platforms
• Leads technical architecture decisions and drive long-term platform evolution
• Provides technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to engineers across teams
• Collaborates with Product, Design, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Identifies and reduces technical debt; improve system performance, observability, and reliability
• Establishes and upholds engineering best practices, standards, and documentation
