Job summary

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, seeks a Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve software platforms for customers, partners, and operations. You will solve complex engineering problems, influence architecture, and lead technically across teams in a fully remote environment.

You will collaborate with product managers, quality engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable software, establishing direction and best practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience and solving complex problems.
• Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, Go, Python, or C#, with API and distributed system work.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining APIs and services.
• Strong database experience and software engineering best practices.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and influence cross-functional initiatives.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across remote, distributed teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications, services, APIs, and platforms.
• Lead technical design decisions to support high volumes and evolving needs.
• Partner with product managers, architects, and QA to define requirements and deliver quality solutions.
• Establish architectural direction, design patterns, and engineering standards.
• Address performance, reliability, and maintainability concerns with scalable solutions.
• Deliver software through automated build, test, deployment, and CD processes.
• Ensure code quality via reviews, documentation, and best practices.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance through pair programming and reviews.
• Collaborate across teams to tackle shared challenges and advance platform capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-enabled tooling to improve delivery.
