Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR) to join the engineering team. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and shape features across the Phare OS data platform.

The role emphasizes healthcare data domains, scalability, and building in production environments with modern CI/CD practices. You will work closely with product and engineering leaders to craft scalable solutions, implement robust data processing, and ensure high-quality code while

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
10+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
5+ years in technical leadership or thought‑leadership capacity.
Experience with HL7 and FHIR in healthcare technology environments.
Proficiency with Apache Spark, Python, Scala, Databricks.
Experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Strong knowledge of XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON, REST APIs.
Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, Agile development, and version control.
Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

Define and participate in roadmap discussions with senior product and engineering leaders.
Help shape strategic technology direction and architectural choices.
Provide guidance on code structure and implementation approaches for maintainability and performance.
Collaborate with product management to estimate epics, features, and stories.
Script and maintain automated build steps, CI/CD pipelines, and staging environments.
Mentor junior developers and serve as a technical thought leader.
