Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR) to join our software engineering team. You’ll help define the technical direction, mentor engineers, and build scalable data platforms for healthcare workflows.

You will work across HL7/FHIR, cloud services, and modern web APIs to deliver reliable, compliant solutions that move revenue cycle processes upstream and improve patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of software or data engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership.
• Experience with HL7/FHIR, Epic, and healthcare data environments.
• Hands-on cloud experience with major platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proficient in modern software practices: version control, automated testing, CI/CD, Agile.

Responsibilities

• Participate in roadmap definition with senior product and engineering leaders.
• Shape strategic technology direction and implementation approaches.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions across teams.
• Design and implement scalable HL7/FHIR data platforms and services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to estimate epics, features, and stories.
