Job summary

Henry Schein One is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for our Cloud Sync platform. This remote role within the United States requires collaborating with Product Management and Engineering Leadership to design scalable solutions and drive strategic initiatives.

You will mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and guide cross-team decisions to ensure quality, performance, and long-term maintainability while modernizing legacy services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering complex, enterprise-scale software systems.
• Expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, client-server architecture, object-oriented design, and engineering best practices.
• Proven ability to create technical designs, architectural documentation, and scalable solutions while influencing technical decisions across teams.
• Problem-solving skills and experience diagnosing and resolving complex production issues.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, driving software quality, and elevating team capabilities.
• A natural collaborator with excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and build alignment without direct authority.
• A hands-on technical leader who combines strategic thinking, ownership, accountability, and continuous learning to deliver meaningful business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, highly available software solutions.
• Develop and communicate cross-team technical strategies and architectural standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design reviews, and pair programming.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Establish and promote best practices around software design, maintainability, security, and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across applications, systems, and engineering processes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that support business objectives.
• Facilitate architectural discussions across multiple teams and domains, ensuring alignment with company-wide technology direction.
• Lead engineering guilds and contribute to the growth and development of engineering talent.
• Investigate complex technical challenges and drive resolution through thoughtful analysis and collaboration.
