Job summary

1Password is seeking a Staff Security Engineer on Security Incident Response to shape how we detect, respond, and learn from security incidents across the organization. You will design AI-assisted tooling, lead complex investigations, and own programs from tabletop exercises to threat hunting.

This senior IC role reports to the Manager, Security Incident Response and demands engineering depth, sound judgment, and the ability to plan multi-quarter work.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading complex, high-severity security incidents across multiple environments.
• Experience designing and building AI-assisted automation for security operations.
• Strong software engineering skills with production tooling experience.
• Experience owning a security program or capability roadmap end to end.

Responsibilities

• Serve as incident manager and technical escalation point for complex, high-severity events.
• Design and build AI-assisted and automated systems for faster triage, investigation, and containment.
• Establish safety controls, auditability, and rollback mechanisms for automated actions.
• Own readiness programs including tabletop exercises and incident gamedays.
• Advance threat hunting and insider risk capabilities with roadmaps and prioritization.
• Plan and deliver multi-quarter initiatives with project management discipline.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the team.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Product Security and Engineering to close gaps.
